For this post, we were asked to give Dr. Strange some suggestions on videos/articles he should have assigned.
Time to Know: a Paradigm Shift in K-12 Education
This video promotes Time to Know. However, I think it very clearly points out the shift that the world and technology has made over the years. For this blog assignment, I want you to watch the video, post about it on your blog, and describe how you think technology is changing the world and helping special needs kids and higher level kids come together in the classroom.
RSA Animate: Changing Education Paradigms
In this video, Sir Ken Robinson illustrates how as teachers, we seem forced to perform in specific ways. For example, if a child can't sit still, we tell their parents, and the doctor says they have ADHD, when really, there are so many distractions, we can't expect them to focus 100% of the time. Watch this video and leave a 2 paragraph post on your blog. The first paragraph should be about why teachers feel forced to act certain ways and the second paragraph should be about what we as future teachers can do to help change this way of teaching/ thinking.
Hey Amanda,
ReplyDeleteGood job on finding these videos. Your video of "Time to Know" was really interesting. I think this is an awesome thing! I have already seen the Sir Ken Robinson video. I think that your assignment would be great. One part that you missed was you were to actually do your own assignment.

I loved your first video. I like how the curriculum for the "Time to Know" is individual based and centers around each student. Even with twenty-five students at all levels and with different needs the teacher can keep track of their process and see what they need help in. They can see what each student has done and how they did on it. Each student moves at their own pace and still meets state standards.
ReplyDeleteI had actually watched the second video. I Really agree with the way Sir Ken Robinson views the educational system and that it is need of change. We can not keep teaching the same wat we have for generations. The students and the world are different.
I think you picked to great videos!
